Emergency Operations Center

Overview

The University of Illinois Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is a National Incident Management (NIMS) compliant Incident Command System (ICS). It is activated both for planned events (including but not limited to Fighting Illini home football games, commencement, the Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend, known large demonstrations) and ad hoc when an incident unexpectedly grows beyond the planned Command Post activation or no planned activation. Activation procedures, including required approvals, can be found in the Emergency Operations Plan.

Organizational Chart

The full organizational chart is included here. It is not expected that all positions will be needed in every activation. Key positions are highlighted with double-lined boxes. Section-specific organizational charts are included in each section page.

Color Scheme

The EOC uses the University of Illinois brand colors most closely matching the NIMS colors for each section. Exceptions:

  • NIMS does not define a color for the Policy Group so the university uses Illini Blue.
  • The university color scheme has a purple but no pink so the Intelligence / Investigations Section is purple.
  • NIMS uses black for the Finance / Administration but the university uses its standard gray for readability.
